Tuition

I love teaching and offer tuition on violin, viola and piano.

I have over 20 years of experience in both private, peripetetic and classroom teaching and offer face-to-face lessons based in Rugby. For adults I also offer daytime lessons via Zoom.

I also run workshops on songwriting, playing folk fiddle tunes and for the younger pupils we sometimes learn ukelele alongside our other instruments.

Testimonials

"Lauren is the perfect teacher – patient, diligent, responsive to what you want to learn, and chock full of great tips. I felt I was able to progress so quickly on the fiddle under her expert guidance. So, if you feel like giving fiddle a go, I can heartily recommend her."

"Lauren has been teaching my two sons piano from infant school ages and the older one is now embarking on Music GCSE! She is warm, patient, kind and flexible, as well as super talented in her own right, and we are thrilled she is still part of influencing our family's development. We highly recommend her as a teacher."

Laura Meldrum-Carter

"I am an adult violin learner and experienced player of other instruments.  Lauren was well able to account for this, tailoring lessons to suit.  She is patient and friendly and, importantly for me, is able to spot and correct my mistakes before they become bad habits.  Lessons are light-hearted but focused and well-structured.  I would recommend Lauren every time."

"My son has been having ukulele lessons with Lauren for nearly a year now and he is thoroughly enjoying his lessons, the music and his time at home practising. Lauren makes learning fun and familiar; the post-lesson videos to help practising at home are really useful and great to refer back to. Its great seeing my son's progress throughout this year and also his enjoyment of his lessons and playing his ukulele. Thanks Lauren!"

"Lauren is easily the best music teacher I've ever had.  She can spot any mistakes and give clear guidance on how to correct it.  She is always focussed during lessons but her sense of humour and approach makes it fun as well. "

Lauren teaches me and my young son piano. My son has a very short attention span and can be very easily distracted but Lauren is a wonderfully engaging, warm and immeasurably patient teacher. She has a very positive and encouraging teaching style, readily adapting the lessons to suit my son’s needs and personalising them to match his interests and to keep him motivated. For me, a piano lesson with Lauren is better than therapy - I enjoy the lessons so much and highly recommend her!

"Last Autumn, having spotted on a musician friend's post that Lauren had space for tutorials (and after over two decades of not playing the violin) I plucked up the courage to contact her to enquire about lessons. To my great delight not only was there a slot for me but we could also do the lessons on-line. So as a 68 year old novice I took the plunge and have never regretted it since. I find Lauren a very amenable and a great teacher. I now have the confidence to ask questions, sort out sheet music for songs I fancy trying and even tab them for her to check. Her explanations are clear and I have practice goals set for between our lessons. We now mix practical with theory and my confidence has grown with both. She is also very patient with my rural internet system and the need to swap sometimes from Zoom to Whatsapp. I highly recommend Lauren - do contact her and give it a go!"
